Why the prices differ
You are paying for group size, not for access
Group size, and whether you can ask a question. Nothing else moves.
This is the flattest price structure of any site in our network, and the reason is that the Alhambra controls almost everything. Every visitor enters through the same gates, walks the same rooms in broadly the same order, and enters the Nasrid Palaces at a time the Alhambra assigned rather than the operator. A guide cannot get you in earlier, keep you in longer, or take you anywhere the ticket does not cover.
So what changes with the price?
Group size, above all. A standard tour can be thirty people. The Nasrid rooms are small, low and acoustically awful, and guides are not permitted to raise their voices inside — everyone wears a radio headset. In a group of thirty you hear the words and see the back of somebody’s head. In a capped group of a dozen you see what is being described. This is the single upgrade on this page that changes the visit rather than the comfort.
Whether you can ask questions. Related, and underrated. In a large group the guide is running a monologue on a schedule. In a small or private group you can stop in front of an inscription and ask what it says, which is most of the value of having a guide at all.
Fast track. Some listings include priority entry at the gate. It saves the ticket queue, not the Nasrid slot — that is fixed either way.

Seven things that change the price, in order
All seven are on the listing, and each one moves the number.
- Group size
The biggest single factor. Standard, capped, or private. It is also the factor that changes the visit most, which is a rare alignment.
- Whether the Nasrid Palaces are named
On this page they always are. Elsewhere they are not always, and a general ticket without them is several euros cheaper and worth nothing to a first-time visitor.
- Whether the Generalife is included
The summer palace and its gardens are a separate part of the complex. Every tour here includes them; a few tickets sold elsewhere do not.
- Fast-track entry
Priority at the gate, which saves the ticket queue. It cannot move your Nasrid slot.
- Whether the guide is officially accredited
Only licensed guides may lead groups inside the monument. Every tour on this page uses one, and it is worth checking anywhere else.
- The language of the tour
English is standard on this page. Spanish, French and German tours exist and are sometimes cheaper because the groups are smaller.
- The review count behind the rating
One tour here carries 8,529 ratings. Two carry ten or fewer because they are new private listings. Both are facts; they are not the same kind of fact.

What is not in the ticket price
The bus, the walk back, and the slot you must not miss.
Getting up the hill. The Alhambra sits on a hill above Granada. The C30 and C32 minibuses run from Plaza Isabel la Católica and cost very little; a taxi is about ten euros; walking up the Cuesta de Gomerez takes about twenty-five minutes and is steep enough to matter in July.
Getting back down. Most tours end at the Generalife exit, which is a long way from where you started and further still from the city. Budget another bus or taxi, or a twenty-minute downhill walk.
The audio guide you do not need. Sold at the entrance, and redundant if you have a guide. People buy it anyway because it is the first thing on offer.
The day you lose if you miss the slot. Not a cost so much as a catastrophe. The Nasrid entry time is enforced, there is no refund, and in high season there is no second chance that week.
